Migrating to Australia as a child, Philip discovered a new continent, its extraordinary flora and fauna, and later, became fascinated by the history of colonial settlement and its impact. As Philip discovered within himself the drive to create, he turned to the natural world for inspiration, reflecting a deep connection to, and respect for, the land of his adopted country. The Art of Nature is the story of a prolific self-taught artist and his commitment to the landscape and environment of this wondrous land.

To mark the book’s publication, Australian Galleries held a survey exhibition of Philip Davey’s work presenting a comprehensive series of paintings and ceramics, both fresh from the artist’s studio as well as works spanning his prolific career.
